We may differ in our views, backgrounds, and experiences, but together we are part of one American family. As the significant adults in their lives, we hold the power to model values, protect their well-being, and nurture their mental, social, physical, and emotional health.

Through The Journey Inside, I invite you to walk with me as we look at life through our children’s eyes. Not through theories or step-by-step plans, but through simple stories, songs, and reflections that remind us of our “better angels”—the empathy, imagination, and compassion we all carry within.

About Andrew C. Phillips

Andrew C Phillips is an author, storyteller, and dreamer whose life’s work centers on the transformative power of stories, connection, and imagination. His debut novel, In Jake’s Shoes (Black Rose Writing, launching April 2026), delves into themes of family, loss, and the unexpected gifts that love can leave behind. Together with his wife, Andrew created the Singing to Read story-songbooks for elementary-aged children—blending literacy and music to make learning joyful. His picture book, Sandcastling, celebrates the wonder of imagination as children build castles on the beach.

From an early age, sharing stories and memories has been Andrew’s way of connecting—with family, friends, and especially children. After losing his mother in the early 1980s, stories became a way to honor her light and keep her spirit alive. As a teacher, principal, father, and grandfather, Andrew has learned that storytelling helps us see life through another’s eyes and hold on to the people we love. Whether on the page, in a song, or spoken aloud, storytelling is how he shares who he is, what he believes, and how he makes sense of the world.

Driven by the belief that there is a special light inside every person, Andrew is always dreaming—seeking to understand how others see the world and to help them discover their own unique spark. As an educator and parent, he is passionate about journeying inside the minds of children, learning to walk in their shoes, and inspiring others to do the same. Through his podcast, “The Journey Inside,” Andrew invites listeners to see life through a child’s eyes, and to explore stories, songs, and ideas that nurture courage, kindness, and hope. He dreams of a world where children grow up surrounded by inspiration and role models who help them shine.
